VyGard® and VyGard® II

Specifications for Vertical Louvers

I. Fabric:
100% polyester with a trademarked (VyGard®) process finish. Material shall be pliable and should not break or crack on louver fabrication. The material shall have sufficient rigidity to ensure straight hanging and resistance to curl, twist, bowing, and distortion. This material has been tested to insure dimensional stability under various environmental exposures and should resist shrinking, stretch, curl, cupping, and twist.

II. Physical Properties
   A. Colorfastness: 100 hours in a carbon arc fadeometer at 105° without significant color change.
   B. Dimensional Stability: Under normal conditions these materials should neither shrink nor stretch sufficiently in either length or width to affect appearance or serviceability.
   C. Tensile Strength: In pounds per inch width when measured by the 1" x 6" strip method per Federal Specification CCC-C-521e Sutton 50 lbs.    W/100 lbs. F
   D. Tear Strength: In grams or kilograms as tested with an Elmendorf Tester in warp and fill directions Sutton 1 KG min W/F
   E. Washability: This material will withstand a test of 3 washings on both sides when gently scrubbed with a mild 5 percent detergent solution in warm water.
   F. Fabric Weights: The average total weights per pattern are:
9-12 oz/yd
   G. Color Uniformity: Every effort is made to maintain consistent color uniformity through raw material and in process quality controls. A commercial color variation is considered acceptable.

III. Vertical Louvers
   A. Dimensions
      1. Slit Width:
± 1 mm (± .039") maintained 90% of the time. The remaining 10% will be held within ± 1.2 mm (± .047").
      2. Shrinkage and Stretch: Less than ± 0.1% on 8' vane.
   B. Hanging Properties
Test Method: 8' long polyester vanes with 1 oz. weight/inch vane width. Weighted vane hung for 24 hours at standard conditions prior to testing.
      1. Cupping Curl: 1/8" max. width loss.
      2. Twist: 15° max. in 8' vane.
      3. Camber: 1/8" max. in 8' vane.
      4. Sealability: The variety of heat and sonic seal apparatus used and set of conditions effect proper sealing. An adhesive may be required to achieve proper bond.
